Hello CoreNet Members,

CoreNet NorCal 2014 is in full swing!  Since our last newsletter, much has happened within the chapter and for our members. But first, a major shout-out to the three chapter members who were recognized in the LEADER magazine’s 36 under 36: Young Leaders to Watch article -- Samantha Martz, Cassidy Zerrer and Christina Clark.  No other Chapter was as well-represented. Congratulations to Samantha, Cassidy and Christina!

During a meeting of chapter officers from around the globe that I attended earlier this year, we discussed focusing on “quality of engagement” for our members rather than “quantity.” This led your board to a conversation about the importance of our events and connection points outside of the monthly programs, events that address the specific interests of our members or events that allow our members to connect in different ways. In the weeks ahead, we have our annual golf outing, our sponsor recognition lunches, the kick-off to our 2014 mentorship program, and the next Women of CoreNet program. I encourage you to take advantage of as many of these opportunities as possible to connect, share and learn in more interactive settings.

The big news for this month is the kick-off of our member survey. You will hear more about this below and in separate communications, but consider this my first (and therefore not only) plea. We have engaged an external consultant for this project to ensure not only that we keep the survey short but also that the data remains meaningful. We will query on both objective and subjective data points, and we ask that you take a few minutes to complete the survey so that we can have as large of a data set as possible.  What’s in this for you?  Well, there will be some prizes for those who participate, but the real benefit will lie in a better CoreNet NorCal experience for you and your fellow members. Your leadership council will be able to better align our offerings with your personal preferences regarding communications, program topics, venue locations, meeting times/dates, etc. We get great intel from the board and the leadership team, but we want to go beyond this group in order to truly get a sense of the Chapter as a whole.

One last item, and this one relates to May’s program topic.  I have had the pleasure of attending nearly all of our domestic summits since the merger of IDRC and NACORE into CoreNet but only recently had the good fortune to participate in our international summits.  After attending the Singapore Summit in March, I highly encourage all of you to set a personal goal to attend one of our non-U.S. global summits at some point in your career. The experience was tremendous and provides a very different perspective than what we have here in the States, both professionally and culturally.

Happy Summer!

Keep An Eye Out For An Important Member Survey Commissioned By The CoreNet Northern California Chapter

In the next two weeks, you will have the opportunity to help us make CoreNet Northern California even better.

As part of our goal of continuously improving our organization, we would appreciate your opinion about your CoreNet Northern California Chapter membership experience.

During the week of June 16, you’ll receive an email with a link to a short survey. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey so we can work toward improving our programs, services, and your member experience. The chapter leaders have set ambitious goals for member participation in this survey, which we can reach with everyone’s help.

The survey is being conducted by an independent research organization retained by our chapter. Your responses are confidential and will only be viewed in aggregate with those of other members. Our board and committees will use the data to develop new and improved programs, and we’ll report on the responses later this summer.

As thanks for completing the survey by July 1, you can choose to be entered into a drawing for great prizes.

Day On The Bay Is Back For The Blue Angels
October 10

Last year’s amazing Day On The Bay event took CoreNet NorCal members into San Francisco Bay for the high-tech sailing action of the America’s Cup. This year, on October 10, 2014, members will have the opportunity to float on the 183-foot M/V Hornblower yacht just beneath the screaming U.S. Navy Blue Angels as they perform over the San Francisco Bay. If you have never seen the Blue Angels from a boat on San Francisco Bay, don’t miss it. The power and precision of these jets up close are truly mind-blowing. What’s more, the yacht will be captained by CoreNet NorCal’s own Ed Shea, making this a truly unique experience. Sponsorship opportunities (last year’s event sold out) and tickets will be offered to platinum, gold, and silver sponsors, then to CoreNet NorCal members. Mark your calendars now and watch your email inbox for sponsorship and ticket information.
