Pursue Your Professional Development Goals with a NorCal Scholarship!

July 7, 2020

As a member of our local Northern California Chapter we are excited to share with you information regarding our 2020/2021 Scholarship Program. Given the unique challenges we're all facing, CoreNet is offering a variety of virtual opportunities for professional growth that members can take advantage of. To learn about options available to all members visit the Professional Development Learning Center on the CoreNet Global website.

While we encourage all members to engage, we also recognize many of our members don't have the benefit of receiving financial support to pursue the MCR or QPCR designation. As a way to help with your continuing education needs and professional growth, the NorCal 2020/21 Scholarship Program will help fund:

  • Three (3) MCR Scholarships for a 2-day seminar for those working on obtaining or renewing their designation (Up to $1,000)
  • Two (2) QPCR Subscriptions granting two years of access to the virtual curriculum used to earn the QPCR designation (Up to $1,000)

QPCR content is designed to be an ever-changing broad overview of corporate real estate and essential business skills targeted to individuals with fewer than five years of experience. The MCR has a long-standing defined in-depth curriculum targeted to CRE professionals with five or more years of experience.

The 2020/21 Scholarship Program is open to all NorCal members that are not reimbursed by their employer and would benefit from earning the MCR or QPCR designation. No preferences will be given and scholarship information submitted will remain confidential. The scholarship application deadline has been extended to August 14!

Scholarship recipients will be notified in late August and will be reimbursed after proof of payment.

CNG NorCal March 19, 2020 Chapter Meeting Cancelled

March 4, 2020

Colleagues,

On behalf of the CoreNet NorCal Chapter, I am reaching out to let you know that we are cancelling our March 19, 2020 chapter meeting in an abundance of caution arising from COVID-19. The program we had planned -- Workplace 2020: How Workplace Trends Will Shape the Next Decade – will be rescheduled for later in 2020.

This decision was made after careful consideration by our Chapter Leadership, with input from CoreNet Global and others, and it reflects our commitment to your well-being and to the health of our community. We believe it is essential to follow the guidance provided by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO) and the policies of many of our member companies regarding the cancellation of large-scale gatherings.

We are particularly disappointed to postpone this program which we designed in collaboration with other leading commercial real estate organizations to be a galvanizing event. We remain committed to delivering this exciting program in the coming months and will be announcing a new date in the near future!

As of today, we are proceeding with our smaller format in-person events hosted by our various committees (please see our website for these events). We are reviewing, however, our Monthly Chapter Meeting for both April and May, and will be updating you as to the status in the coming weeks. In the event we are unable to host either meeting as in-person, we are exploring alternatives to deliver value-added content during those months.

Wishing you all well during this uncertain time. Stay safe and wash your hands!

Robert Teed
Chapter President

Workplace Effectiveness Table Top Discussion, March Chapter Meeting at Genentech

March 15, 2018

CoreNet Norcal sends a special thank you out to the Genentech Workplace Effectiveness Team who pulled out the stops to host a refreshing program with a unique format on March 15, 2018 at their South San Francisco Campus.  After a brief introduction by Ann Bamesberger, Senior Director of Workplace Effectiveness and Sara Anderson, Director of Real Estate Management, the 180 members and guests in attendance crowdsourced ideas at interactive tabletop discussions focused on six key themes impacting the future of the work environment. The Genentech team also raised the bar on the classic CoreNet networking experience at the cocktail reception by giving attendees the unique opportunity of speaking with Genentech team members at subject matter poster stations situated throughout the room.

The tabletop discussion topics included collaboration, heads-down focused work, commute & transportation, working flexibly, community, and connected/smart building. The goal was to capture the creative pulse on the six very pertinent themes that are relevant to the CRE industry. Genentech table-top moderators gathered all data and shared their findings with all the CoreNet members that attended the event.

Celebrating our CRE Honorees at the 20th Annual CRE Awards Gala

December 1, 2017

On December 1, 2017 the CoreNet Global Northern California Chapter hosted the 20th annual CRE Awards ceremony honoring Bill Roberts, former Vice President of Real Estate Strategy and Transformation at Hewlett Packard Enterprises (now with Cushman & Wakefield) and Michael Casolo, President of Client Solutions, Global Occupier Services at Cushman & Wakefield at the famed Westin St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco.  Roberts and Casolo were both selected as this year’s honorees based on their accomplishments within the corporate real estate industry as well as their contributions to the success of the CoreNet Global NorCal Chapter.

Founded in 1998, the CRE Awards is the flagship event for CoreNet NorCal.  The program recognizes one Bay Area-based corporate real estate executive whose local and/or global real estate accomplishments for their company and the industry distinguish them among their peers. It also recognizes one Bay Area-based corporate real estate service provider whose performance and client interactions provide a uniquely valued experience to those with whom they work and evidence actions that transcend the expected.
