2016-17 Election Slate

Dear Northern California Chapter CoreNet Member,


Recently, the Chapter accepted nominations to fill four positions on the Northern California Chapter Executive Committee for our next fiscal year, commencing April 1, 2016 - Executive Vice President, Treasurer, Administrative Director, and one Director-at-Large position. Your nominations were reviewed and considered by the Chapter's Nominating Committee, consisting of the current president and executive vice president and four members-at-large from the Chapter (including prior leaders and Young Leader committee representation).


After deliberation, the Nominating Committee has recommended a slate of candidates for these positions, which have been approved by the Chapter's Executive Committee for presentation to the membership by this electronic ballot (see candidate bios below).

Executive Vice President / President
Jay Sholl is a senior vice president with CBRE, Inc. and is a member of the firm's Advisory & Transactions Services Group. He co-leads a multi-disciplined team providing comprehensive portfolio optimization solutions which includes equity and debt capital analysis and occupancy cost reduction strategies for corporate, healthcare and government clients on a local, regional and global market basis. During his 32 year real estate career, he has held many leadership positions including Development Partner with Liberty Property Trust in the U.S. and U.K.; senior managing director with CBRE's Capital Markets Group and a principle with the Trammell Crow Company. Mr. Sholl strives to deliver measurable value and tailored solutions that benefit his clients which result from his unique blend of experience within the development, capital markets, and corporate finance disciplines. Mr. Sholl has been a Northern California CoreNet Chapter member since 2006, a member of the Programs Committee since 2012, and a current member of the NorCal Executive Committee. 

Cassidy Zerrer is a managing director at Newmark Cornish & Carey and is an active member of the CoreNet Global Northern California Chapter. As a broker with Newmark Cornish and Carey, Mr. Zerrer has served as a trusted partner to companies in all stages of development ranging from startups to global enterprises. He has completed numerous headquarter assignments and represented clients nationally and internationally, including ground-up development. Mr. Zerrer served several roles within the chapter for Young Leaders, working with various sub-committees before serving as Co-Chairing of the Young Leaders. He also participates in CoreNet on a global level attending Global Summits and is actively pursuing his MCR designation. In preparation for the potential role as Treasurer of the chapter, Cassidy has been working under the expert guidance of our chapter's current Treasurer, Mr. Christopher Chandlee, throughout 2015.

Administrative Director

Michelle Lagos is proposal director and west coast team lead for Cushman & Wakefield's Global Occupier Services Proposal Development team. In this role, she manages the pursuit process for global, multi service line accounts, bringing together diverse global teams to produce technically complex proposals and presentations. Following the recent integration of DTZ and Cushman & Wakefield, she is also playing a key role in the standardization of internal processes and procedures related to the pursuit of new business. She is highly versed in all of the core services of Cushman & Wakefield's occupier platform, including Transaction Management, Project & Development Services, Lease Administration, Integrated Facilities Management, and Strategic Consulting. She has supported teams in winning more than $125 million in new business.
Ms. Lagos has been an active member of CoreNet throughout her career. She has actively participated in and held leadership positions with both the Northern California Chapter Young Leaders and Global Young Leaders committees. Under Michelle's leadership, the Northern California Chapter Young Leaders more than tripled in size and many of the programs she implemented have been replicated by other Young Leader or CoreNet groups, such as the Women of CoreNet. She co-founded the mentorship program and helped introduce the popular "Lunch with a Leader" series. She was named one of CoreNet "36 Under 36" in 2015.

Janet Merriman has worked in the corporate real estate arena for more than 20 years, achieving success in both technical practice and firm management. She was born in Vancouver, Canada, and studied interior design at BCIT. Initially practicing in residential design, she moved to the commercial side of interiors in 2000, where she managed a firm of 15, Shearer Design Inc. in Calgary. During her eight-year tenure, Janet's strong client rapport grew the firm's repeat business. In 2008, Janet moved to Northern California to expand her career opportunities. She is currently an associate with RMW architecture & interiors, an award-winning firm that has served the Bay Area for more than 45 years. As director of business development and workplace strategist at RMW, Janet leverages her grasp of the customer experience to advance the firm's business strategy and to design workplaces, fulfilling her need to connect people with their environment. She is an active volunteer with the CoreNet Northern California Programs Committee, where she has developed a strong professional network.
