January 14, 2010 Annual Holiday Party

The CoreNet Global Northern California Chapter 2010 Holiday Party was a great success.  The event was held at a new location this year, Astaria Restaurant on 3rd Street in San Mateo.  The new venue was fantastic, with separate rooms for socializing and for dining; and there was plenty of both that night! If you weren't able to attend this year, make sure you can make it next year as this was the place to be and an excellent start to the New Year.

July 16, 2009 - Chapter Monthly Meeting

The Meeting took place at the Haworth Showroom in San Francisco.  Some Members were treated to a quick tour before the program.

Program Summary:
BIM - Lean Construction - Integrated Project Delivery
Whether you see them as new buzz words, passing fads or have yet to hear them, they are becoming increasingly common. In an industry not normally known for disruptive innovation, they afford a fresh opportunity for us all - even the answer to what many see as over a century of real estate and construction dysfunction. They are the key to unlocking new levels of value in whatever we do. Whether early adopter or strategic follower,  this event has something for everyone from tire kickers to innovators. Hear from industry experts about these leading approaches and how they are becoming an overall concept of delivering at new levels on the three cornerstones of Time, Quality and Cost. In our current challenged economy there has never been a better time to innovate and in doing so emerge from our challenges stronger and more competent than before. This session and this dialogue is the key to our recovery and a new future in our industries and professions.

The Speakers:

Howard W Ashcraft, Jr, Partner – Hanson Bridgett Law Firm

Scott Arsten, Regional BIM Manager – Turner Construction Company

Bill Black,  National Director Strategic Business Solutions - Haworth Inc.

Jim Cutts, Director of Lean Construction - MacDonald Miller Facility Solutions

For those of you who attended the golf tournament, you know it was a fabulous event.  Great weather, great friends, food, and drink.

This is always a well attended and fun event each year, and I want to take a moment to send a special thanks to everyone who helps make this happen.  Thank you to our sponsors....your generous contributions are key to our ability to host these events.  As many of you know, I did my best to try to sample all the great food and drink available all around the course  - and enjoyed visiting with many of the sponsors along the way.

Of course putting together an event of this scale takes a dedicated team of volunteers. A big thanks to our committee members: Larry Bell, Ed Shea, Lou Galiano, Lunny Lundstrom, Jennyfer Aguilear, Michael Ma, Elizabeth Monti, Therese Hazelroth, and guidance from our EVP, Denise DeVille.

Look forward to seeing you all there next year as well!
